1. Acceptance of these terms

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the website and team management system operated by Nelson Mandela Bay Schools Water Polo (“NMB Water Polo”, “we”, “us”, “the Club”) at nmbwaterpolo.co.za. By accessing or using the website, or by registering an account, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the website.

2. Who may use the website

The website provides a team management system for the Club, with areas for parents/guardians, coaches, managers, and administrators. You may only use it if:

  • you are 18 or older, or you are using it as the parent/legal guardian of a player; and
  • you have been granted an account or role by the Club, where access is restricted.

Players under 18 are managed through their parent/guardian’s account. Some areas of the site are private and limited to logged-in users with the appropriate role.

3. Your account

  • Keep your login details confidential and do not share your account with others.
  • You are responsible for activity that takes place under your account.
  • Provide accurate, current and complete information, and keep it up to date.
  • Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.

4. Acceptable use

When using the website, you agree not to:

  • break any applicable law, or infringe the rights of others;
  • upload content that is unlawful, defamatory, abusive, harassing, or inappropriate;
  • upload information or images of any child without the consent of that child’s parent or legal guardian;
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to any account, system or data;
  • introduce viruses or malicious code, or disrupt the website’s operation;
  • scrape, copy or harvest personal information of other users; or
  • use the website for any purpose other than managing your involvement with the Club.

5. Player profiles and content you provide

Parents/guardians and authorised staff may create and manage player profiles and upload content such as photographs, video and player details. By submitting content you confirm that:

  • you have the right to provide it and, for a child, that you are the parent or legal guardian (or are otherwise authorised);
  • you grant the Club permission to store and use that content to run the Club and, where consent has been given, to display it publicly; and
  • the content is accurate and does not infringe anyone else’s rights.

6. Codes of conduct

Use of the Club’s facilities, teams and activities is also subject to the Club’s Player Code of Conduct and, for staff, the Team Manager & Coach Agreement. By taking part, players, parents/guardians and staff agree to uphold those standards.

7. Privacy

Your use of the website is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains what personal information we collect and how we use and protect it. Please read it carefully.

8. Intellectual property

Unless otherwise stated, the content on this website — including text, graphics, logos and images — is owned by or licensed to NMB Water Polo and is protected by applicable laws. You may not reproduce, distribute or otherwise use any content without our prior written permission, except for your own personal, non-commercial use of the management system.

9. Third-party links

The website may link to third-party websites (for example federations, sponsors or social media). We are not responsible for the content, availability or practices of those websites, and a link does not imply endorsement.

10. Disclaimers

The website and its content are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind to the extent permitted by law. Information about fixtures, results, selections and schedules may change without notice. Please also see our Website Disclaimer.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, NMB Water Polo, its committee members, officials, coaches, volunteers and agents will not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss or damage arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the website. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that may not lawfully be excluded or limited.

12. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or remove your access to the website or any account if you breach these Terms, a Club code of conduct, or where reasonably necessary to protect the Club, its members or other users. You may stop using the website at any time and may ask us to close your account.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version and its date will always appear at the top of this page. Your continued use of the website after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and you agree to the jurisdiction of the South African courts in relation to any dispute arising from them.

As a parent or guardian of a player representing Nelson Mandela Bay Schools Water Polo, you play a critical role in supporting your child’s growth, fostering team spirit, and upholding the values of the organization. By signing this agreement, you acknowledge your responsibilities and commitment to the team’s success and well-being.

Parent/Guardian Code of Conduct

1. Support and Encouragement

  • Encourage your child to do their best in both training and competitions.
  • Focus on their effort and improvement rather than solely on outcomes or wins.
  • Celebrate their achievements while teaching them to handle setbacks with resilience.

2. Respect for Coaches and Officials

  • Show respect for coaches, referees, and officials during games and practices.
  • Trust the decisions of coaches regarding player selection, team strategies, and game management.
  • Avoid confronting coaches or officials during matches or training sessions; address concerns in private, at an appropriate time.

3. Positive Role Modeling

  • Demonstrate good sportsmanship by supporting all players, not just your child.
  • Refrain from using abusive language, making derogatory remarks, or engaging in aggressive behavior toward players, officials, or other parents.
  • Maintain a positive attitude that aligns with the values of Nelson Mandela Bay Schools Water Polo.

4. Communication

  • Keep the coaching staff informed of any personal, medical, or scheduling issues affecting your child’s participation.
  • Respond promptly to communications from the team or organization.
  • Raise concerns respectfully with team leadership, using official communication channels.

5. Commitment to Team Values

  • Ensure your child attends all practices, games, and tournaments, barring emergencies or prior arrangements with the coach.
  • Reinforce the importance of discipline, respect, and teamwork in your child’s participation.
  • Promote inclusivity and respect for all team members, regardless of background or ability.

6. Financial Responsibility

  • Fulfill financial obligations related to team participation, including registration fees, tournament costs, and any other agreed-upon expenses.
  • Notify the organization in advance if you experience difficulties in meeting financial commitments to explore possible solutions.

7. Safety and Welfare

  • Ensure your child is well-prepared for training and matches, including proper hydration, nutrition, and appropriate gear.
  • Inform the coaching staff of any medical conditions or injuries that may impact your child’s participation.
  • Cooperate with the organization’s efforts to create a safe and supportive environment for all players.

As a representative of Nelson Mandela Bay Schools Water Polo, each player is expected to uphold the highest standards of behaviour, both in and out of the pool. By following this Player Code of Conduct, you contribute to the spirit of teamwork, sportsmanship, and respect that defines our organisation.

1. Respect

  • Respect your teammates, coaches, opponents, referees, and all officials at all times.
  • Value the contributions of every team member and foster a supportive environment.
  • Handle disagreements calmly and with maturity, allowing coaches or team leaders to mediate if necessary.

2. Sportsmanship

  • Demonstrate fair play and integrity during games, practices, and tournaments.
  • Accept decisions made by referees without complaint or confrontation.
  • Celebrate victories with humility and accept defeats with grace, always learning from the experience.

3. Commitment

  • Attend all practices, matches, and tournaments as scheduled, unless excused by a coach.
  • Be punctual and come prepared with the necessary equipment and mindset.
  • Give 100% effort during training sessions and games to improve your skills and contribute to the team.

4. Communication

  • Inform coaches in advance if you cannot attend a practice or match.
  • Approach coaches with questions, concerns, or feedback in a respectful manner.
  • Maintain open and respectful communication with teammates and parents.

5. Discipline

  • Adhere to team rules, schedules, and directives from coaches and staff.
  • Avoid unsportsmanlike behaviour, including foul language, aggressive actions, or inappropriate gestures.
  • Refrain from engaging in behaviours that could damage the reputation of Nelson Mandela Bay Schools Water Polo.

6. Representation

  • Wear the team uniform with pride and present yourself as a positive ambassador of the team.
  • Represent Nelson Mandela Bay Schools Water Polo with dignity, both at events and in the community.
  • Use social media responsibly, ensuring that any posts about the team or teammates reflect positively on the organisation.

7. Inclusivity

  • Welcome and support players of all backgrounds and abilities, fostering a sense of unity and belonging.
  • Participate in programs that encourage younger or less experienced players to grow in the sport.

8. Health and Safety

  • Prioritise your physical and mental well-being by staying hydrated, eating healthily, and getting adequate rest.
  • Inform your coach of any injuries or conditions that may affect your ability to participate.
  • Follow all safety guidelines provided during training and matches.

9. Anti-Bullying and Harassment

  • Treat everyone with kindness and respect, refraining from any form of bullying, harassment, or exclusion.
  • Report any incidents of bullying or harassment to a coach or trusted adult immediately.

10. Accountability

  • Take responsibility for your actions and their impact on the team.
  • Accept constructive feedback as an opportunity for growth.
  • Always strive to be the best version of yourself, on and off the field.
